Founded in 1997, the Light and Salt Association (LSA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to serving low-income and underserved Asian American communities, with a particular focus on Chinese immigrants with limited English proficiency. The organization was established in response to the biblical teaching: “You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world…” (Matthew 5:13–16).

LSA’s mission is to provide compassionate, knowledgeable support and services, promote healthy living, and foster a stronger sense of community responsibility. To fulfill this mission, LSA offers culturally and linguistically appropriate programs in health education, cancer screening and survivorship support, health insurance and government benefit enrollment assistance, free tax preparation for low-income families, primary medical care for uninsured individuals, and day services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
